Sustainability Specialist Jenny Neiman provided a PowerPoint presentation that covered the following: APS TAKE CHARGE AZ EV CHARGING STATIONS APS’S TAKE CHARGE AZ PILOT PROGRAM CHARGING STATIONS AT CITY HALL Fleet Manager Greg Conlin added that while the investment in electric charging stations may seem premature, electric vehicles are the future and the City fleet will be moving in that direction sooner rather than later. It would be more costly for the City to put the stations in on its own. The City will be ahead of the game at a significantly reduced cost. The public needs this infrastructure, and this is a way to provide it and be ready in the future as the fleet transitions. He believes that it is a good investment for the long term. Council indicated that they feel this is a good partnership and will provide a starting point toward incorporating electric vehicles into the City’s fleet. It will also provide a benefit to the public and shows the commitment to more efficient vehicles. They encouraged staff to look for additional opportunities to expand the number of charging stations in the community. |
